The Democrat-controlled Congress and the White House are pulling out all the stops to offset the oncoming tidal wave that is threatening to throw them out of power this November.

With their polls sagging badly, the liberal Democrats rammed through a Puerto Rican statehood resolution yesterday which many consider the first step towards making Puerto Rico the 51st state -- a move that would give liberal progressives in the Congress six more Representatives and two new Senators.

Making Puerto Rico a state would bring another gun control bastion into our nation and bring almost ten anti-gun congressmen and senators into the Congress.

This is disgraceful! With her party's polls plummeting, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to get as many additional progressives into Congress as possible so that she can continue advancing her liberal, anti-American agenda.

Regarding the statehood resolution, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) says it "is the Puerto Rico statehood bill which is being pushed by the new progressive party in Puerto Rico trying to create a federally [sanctioned] vote that they say is nonbinding but would give them the legitimacy to then come back and try to seat people in the United States Congress."

GOA helps kill Pelosi's attempt to give DC a vote in Congress

Not to be satisfied with merely eight new liberal votes from Puerto Rico, liberal Democrats want to give statehood to Washington, DC. S. 160 would take a major step in that direction by giving this federal enclave a vote in the House of Representatives.

The bill is the DC Voting Rights Act, otherwise known as the DC Vote Grab Act. It would make Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton a legitimate voting member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

If you know anything about Del. Norton, you know that she is one of the most liberal, anti-gun legislators in the country -- one who completely supports Nancy Pelosi's agenda. Of course, Democrats are not just going to settle for a mere Representative in Congress... they want statehood for the District of Columbia in order to get two anti-gun Senators, as well.

It seems that the Obama-Reid-Pelosi strategy is to continue screwing the country -- even if it hurts them in the polls -- because then they will work to get as many "new" votes as possible through Puerto Rican statehood... DC statehood... and even things like amnesty for illegal aliens.

But if Pelosi were to succeed in making DC a state, there will be two more liberal votes in the Senate -- a situation that would allow them to break any Republican filibuster that would stymie their anti-gun agenda.

The Senate passed S. 160 last year, and if it were not for Gun Owners of America and Senator John Ensign, it would have been signed into law last spring.

. The amendment would repeal all the restrictive gun control laws still on the books in DC after the landmark D.C. v. Heller Supreme Court decision. The vote margin was an amazing 62-36 in the Senate!

Wiping out DC's still very restrictive anti-gun laws was not what Speaker Pelosi and other rabid anti-Second Amendment members of the House wanted to see.

Because of this GOA-supported amendment, the House has been unable to take any action on the Senate measure. While Speaker Pelosi has no desire to see a pro-gun provision within the DC bill, many House members are afraid to vote for any such bill that doesn't contain the pro-gun Ensign amendment. In short, this has been a real Mexican standoff that has lasted for nearly a year.

In fact, when Pelosi tried to bring up the bill last week, she could not muster enough votes to secure passage. S. 160 might now be dead for the year, but GOA will continue watching this and alert you to any attempts to bring up the bill again.

Senate "disses" America's veterans

For several years, GOA has been alerting gun owners to the travesty of justice that has been perpetrated on our veterans.

After the Brady law went into effect, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) began sending the names of many of its beneficiaries to the FBI so they could be added to the NICS list, denying these individuals their right to purchase a firearm. To date, more than 150,000 military veterans have been denied.

However, none of these veterans were ever convicted of a crime; none were found to be a danger to anyone; and none were afforded any meaningful due process of law. Under the semblance of being "mental defectives," these veterans were added to the list strictly because a doctor or a bureaucrat in the VA appointed someone to manage their finances.

The al-Qaeda terrorists in Guantanamo have been given more due process than the American soldiers who fought them!

To combat this outrage, pro-gun Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) authored S. 669, the Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act, that will safeguard for veterans two of the most fundamental Constitutional rights enjoyed by Americans: due process of law and the right to keep and bear arms.

The Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act merely stipulates that a veteran cannot lose his or her gun rights "without the order or finding of a judge, magistrate, or other judicial authority of competent jurisdiction that such person is a danger to himself or herself or others."

This very reasonable bill passed out of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee last June, having been approved unanimously.

Burr's language was offered on the floor of the Senate during the health care debate, but unfortunately, it was defeated 53-45. To see how your Senator voted, go to:

GOA will continue fighting for the passage of this very important legislation.

Where we are at

As you know, elections have consequences. GOA is fighting in the trenches to protect/regain our rights. And, thankfully, we have won a couple of major battles at the federal level -- like securing the ability to transport firearms on Amtrak trains and carry loaded guns in National Parks.

In the states, GOA has been successfully pushing Firearms Freedom Acts around the country -- laws which allow guns that are made in their home states, and stay in those states, to be free of federal regulation. (Currently, there are seven states that have enacted such laws; several others are still in the process.)

GOA also worked in Arizona to pass a new Alaska-style carry law which allows citizens to carry concealed firearms without first getting permission from the government.

After the Health Care control Bill, Obama has begun his journey of converting this nation into socialism. Next on his agenda?

Well, the regulation of the financial sector that caused the housing bubble. Never mind the fact that it was the regulations that forced banks to allow those who could not afford to purchase a home to get a home mortgage.

Other issues on his agenda, Immigration Reform. Now, I dont agree with Arizona's decision to become a "Show me you Papers" state, but I dont live there, and I most certainly do not have to go visit there any time soon. However, it is their right as a state to do as they will and up to the legal citizens of that state to deal with their legislators.

There will be no immigration reform. They will call it whatever they want, but we know it will be nothing more than AMNESTY. Hey, why not give amnesty to all lawbreakers who are just trying to make better lives for themselves?

Obama's other agenda's, too many to go over them all, but Cap & Trade, also known as Cap & Tax, Cap & Slave or energy regulations.

Genius idea, put the whole nation on a smart grid that has no viable protection against hackers. Some schoolboy in Asia or Russia will be able to shut the nation down while playing online games.

Now, if Obama wanted to do something besides smile and let out a lot of hot meaningless air, perhaps, he could get congress to lift the ban on growing hemp. Hemp is not a drug, but it is related to marijuana. It does produce far more biodiesel per pound than any other plant and it burns much cleaner and it grows in the most harshest of conditions.

The American people are tired of having a leader who is number one in wind power, they want a leader who will protect and defend the Constitution, they want a leader who will protect their liberties, they want a leader who can do more than smile pretty for the camera/

We will have to wait until 2012 for that issue to be resolved, unless of course someone comes up with the real obama birth certificate, in the meantime, we have the 2010 election that have the likes of many Socialist democrats already checking out the help wanted sections of their newspapers.

Let's face it, both Democrats and Republicans have done a great deal of damage to our liberties and freedoms. It is the reason why the Republicans lost control of the house and senate and it will be the reason the Democrats loose their seats come November.

Americans are not angry, they are at a boiling point. They are tired of corporate interests manipulating our legislators and our legislators refusing to represent the average person.

Health Care Reform = Heath Control

Immigration Reform = Amnesty
Cap & Trade = Energy Control & more taxes

Republicans know the American people will just go to the ballots in a rash of furry over the HCR and possibly amnesty, but, before they do, they may stop and think that it was the republicans who brought about some of this legislation and the republicans pushed fro Amnesty two years ago.

In the mean time, Democrats are on the offensive, training their campaign workers who will go door to door touting all the great things about HCR. They will forget to mention things, like reduced health care for all, increased taxes, fines and jail for those who refuse to accept health insurance, National ID health Card, National Health Record database, unfettered access to bank accounts in case they need to squeeze more money from you for your health care and the list goes on.

The Democrats know they will loose out come November, they have Obama who has some of his lowest approval ratings out touting their great work for voting against the will of the American people.

Of course, now they (Democrats & Republicans) want the Federal Reserve to have more power to screw up our financial system and the Democrats want more power and control over the very energy we use in our homes. Many are still so very ignorant of Climategate or simply ignoring a truth that is to inconvenient for their socialist agenda.

While I am not Libertarian, I do suggest that people look at independent candidates, lets stop this right left paradigm and start looking at reality. The fact is, that both parties have done us wrong and we need some strong independent constructionally minded individuals running our nation.

You probably have a fundamental disagreement with the politicians who represent you . . .

* They think your money is their money, and they determine what your "allowance" will be
* You probably think that you are not a slave, and that you work to fulfill your own dreams, not theirs

Consider -- If you had a choice, would you rather give your money to . . .

* The Department of Housing and Urban Development, or Habitat for Humanity?
* The Department of the Interior, or groups like the Nature Conservancy and Ducks Unlimited?
* The Department of Education, or a local private school?
* The National Institute of Health (NIH), or St. Joseph's Hospital and the Shriner's Hospitals?

If you're like me, the NIH is the only bureaucracy that might spark a glimmer of interest. But I must wonder, if state-directed medical research is really such a great thing, why must it be funded at gun point?

Other State efforts provoke similar questions. And I can summarize my answers as follows . . .

There's nothing the federal government does that I value anywhere near as much as it costs. I would gladly choose a private, voluntary alternative for nearly every so-called "service" The State provides. I even think it screws up national defense, creating more enemies for me than it actually kills or constrains.

If I could fire my so-called government, I would. But I can't -- it's a monopoly protected by violence and intimidation, with the result that . . .

There doesn't seem to be any limit to how much of my money the know-it-all, busy-body politicians want to spend. They have no brakes. However . . .

Since the bond market does place a severe limit on how much money The State can borrow, there is more and more talk of raising taxes. In particular there's now a great deal of talk about a federal VAT.

VAT stands for Value Added Tax. A VAT is like a sales taxes except that the state and local sales taxes you're used to paying are only imposed at the final point of sale. By contrast . . .

A federal VAT is a sales tax imposed at EVERY STEP from production through distribution to final sale. In other words, the tax would be imposed at every point at which value is added to a product. That's why they call it a "value-added" tax.

When you sit down and read about the long hard battles our founding fathers endured in order to allow us to live free, you cannot help but wonder was it all in vain.

The choices we make each and every day will lead us either down the road of destruction to a nation of socialism, then Communism and tyranny or it will be a road of sacrifice and struggle to return our nation back to the way it was intended to be and that is simply that all are able to live free.

Liberals will have you to think that because you celebrate patriots day that you are doing so because of what happened in Oklahoma City when in fact Patriots' Day is celebrated to honor those who fought in Battles of Lexington and Concord. This is where the phrase "The shot heard around the world," comes from.

Americans were tired of tyranny. They did all they could do in order to stop King George's oppression though discourse. Ultimately they had to make the heart wrenching choice to sacrifice themselves and all they had so that all who lived in the colonies could live free.

Today is Patriot's Day. Have you taken the opportunity to sacrifice some of your time and money? Perhaps a few months to speak to freinds, neighbors, family members about the issues and what is happening to our country? Were you able to help out a liberty minded candidate?

Today, we do not have to go to the extent of our forefathers to regain our liberties. We do need to have the same passion and zeal as they had and use it to find ways to defeat those who are in power and are abusing it. Both Democrats and Republicans should be scrutinized and voted out according to their performance.

We don't need to resort to violence to win our country back, what we do need is votes and candidates who will uphold their oath to office.

Face it, the Tea Party movement has been usurped by politicians and some "conservative" talk show hosts who really had nothing to do with it in the beginning.

As a matter of fact, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck both called Ron Paul supporters nut cases and Glenn Beck went as far to refer to them as "terrorists."

Aside all this,true conservatives have come to believe that the GOP aka Republican Party is conservative party, but over and again, we have lots of examples where those in the Republican Party are far from conservative and the more legislation they push forward they look more liberal then some Democrats.

Go to a Tea Party and show your disdain against socialist policies of Obama and company, but when the GOP is in charge, be sure to protest any anti-conservative legislation they draw up as well.

Now if you really want to affect change, get involved in the grassroots efforts and push for candidates who not only talk the talk but walk the walk when it comes to all conservative issues.

Stop compromising and stay focused. Make your protest known by the candidate you support.

Once the GOP takes over in November, we expect them to start repealing any and all legislation that is unconstitutional. But will they do the right thing?

The politicians tell us that an excess of government meddling was in NO WAY responsible for the Panic of 2008. They claim it all happened because we didn't have enough government involvement! Never mind the fact that . . .

* The Federal Reserve kept interest rates at artificially low levels for years
* The Democrats erected a host of programs and policies designed to expand home ownership
* The Republicans endorsed these efforts in the belief that an expanding "ownership society" would lead more people to vote Republican

The result? A huge housing bubble followed by a massive bust.

Now we're supposed to trust the same people who did all of the above, and who couldn't even regulate Bernie Madoff, despite having ample evidence of his crimes, to suddenly be able to regulate us to prosperity.

Are you really that big a sucker?

If you still believe the politicians can protect you, then get ready to be conned again . . .

The Senate is about to debate Chris Dodd's financial regulation bill. It's a whopping 1,136-pages!

Tell Congress you have a better idea. What we really need to do is end the Federal Reserve's power to blow bubbles. To make that happen . . .

Tell Congress to reject Dodd's cancerous bill, and instead pass Ron Paul's 3-page Free Competition in Currency Act.

Creating new armies of regulators who will write thousands of pages of new regulations will only make it harder to do business in America. This may be what you want, because it will make politicians more important and powerful, but it isn't what we need.

Moreover, Dodd's bill doesn't get to the heart of the problem, which is the boom-and-bust cycle the Federal Reserve creates when it expands and contracts the money supply.

We can end the boom-and-bust cycle, and achieve greater openness and transparency, with LESS regulation, not more. The Free Competition in Currency Act achieves this by allowing individuals to "opt out" of bad Federal Reserve policies. Here's how:

* Legal tender laws will be repealed. Individuals will be free to use mutually-agreed-to forms of money, not just Federal Reserve Notes (dollars)
* Gold, silver, or other forms of money the people may want, will compete with the Fed's dollars on an equal footing
* Because no-one can inflate metal-backed money, their long-term value is more stable than the Fed's dollars, which have lost 95% of their value since the Fed was created in 1913
* In order to compete, the Fed will have to stop inflating their dollars, and banks in the Federal Reserve System will be forced to be open and transparent in order to attract skeptical depositors
* This means the boom-and-bust cycle will end and banks will become more reliable

Let's create REAL reform and transparency in our markets. Oppose Dodd's financial regulation bill and pass the Free Competition in Currency Act instead.

Americans want true conservatives and not Rhinos. Pelosi and Obama thought they had it in the bank because Obamacare was passed and signed into law, but they underestimated the will of We the People. The sheer determination to oust those who supported ObamaCare.

As we speak, people from around the country are getting involved in politics for the first time. They are rallying their support behind conservative candidates and volunteering their time and money to ensure victory.
