I watched the video and heard the pastor's side of the story and read many of the harsh criticisms because he refused to allow his vehicle be searched.

One would think that a person who is calm and speaking rationally would not have to worry about being beaten and tazed by the police, border patrol or any policing agency for non compliance.

Some assert that the Pastor was wrong and that he should simply have complied 3wiht the BP because a 1976 Supreme Court Ruling upheld the BP's use of check points.

The pastor was not disputing the check points, he was simply asking for probable cause as to be searched along with his vehicle. The BP didn't find any people hiding in the trunk, no guns, no durgs, nothing illegal.

I do not see this as an issue with the pastor, I see this as an issue with the BP who simply did not like it when an American citizen refused to comply with their every whim. His punishment was a beating compliments of the Arizona DPS.

It reminds me of a not so long ago history. The rulers beat their subjects and killed them if they did not comply with all they said.

Is this what our country is moving back towards. A complete police state? I certainly hope not.

One thing I would suggest the pastor do is to invest in some video equipment to have in his vehicle so if he is stopped by BP or any other agency that he has evidence of what just went down. Make sure that the video feed is not stored in the vehicle and that it is sent via cell phone to a secure location.

Perhaps if enough people assert their constitutional rights without violence and then sue all involved when they are violated, those who do the violating will think twice before getting a bit over zealous to force compliance.
