Govt Shutdown & Obamacare Standoff

Obama: “I Will Not Negotiate”...Blah Blah Blah, its the Republicans.(NPR)

“It is abundantly clear that Harry Reid wants a shutdown. And now he’s gotten the shutdown that the wants.” - Senator Ted Cruz..More Blah Blah Blah.

Everyone throws blame at each other. In the meantime, health care exchanges are not working. People are not informed about plans even if they wanted to participate in the scheme.

From web site

"We have a lot of visitors on the site right now.
Please stay on this page.

We're working to make the experience better, and we don’t want you to lose your place in line. We’ll send you to the login page as soon as we can. Thanks for your patience!"

Perhaps they could have used Harry Reid's face or Obama's likeness

Just so the guys dont feel left out.

Many Americans will opt opt of Obamacare. Many have lost their jobs or had hours cut and many have been told they will now be covered by Obamacare instead of employer provided healthcare.

By the way, like it or not, Americans opposed to Obamacare can opt out, there are exemptions.

Per the web site, you can be exempt from Obamacare under the following circumstances.

Exemptions from the payment

Under certain circumstances, you won’t have to make the individual responsibility payment. This is called an “exemption.”

You may qualify for an exemption if:

  • You’re uninsured for less than 3 months of the year
  • The lowest-priced coverage available to you would cost more than 8% of your household income
  • You don’t have to file a tax return because your income is too low (Learn about the filing limit.)
  • You’re a member of a federally recognized tribe or eligible for services through an Indian Health Services provider
  • You’re a member of a recognized health care sharing ministry
  • You’re a member of a recognized religious sect with religious objections to insurance, including Social Security and Medicare
  • You’re incarcerated, and not awaiting the disposition of charges against you
  • You’re not lawfully present in the U.S.

Hardship exemptions

If you have any of the circumstances below that affect your ability to purchase health insurance coverage, you may qualify for a “hardship” exemption:

  1. You were homeless.
  2. You were evicted in the past 6 months or were facing eviction or foreclosure.
  3. You received a shut-off notice from a utility company.
  4. You recently experienced domestic violence.
  5. You recently experienced the death of a close family member.
  6. You experienced a fire, flood, or other natural or human-caused disaster that caused substantial damage to your property.
  7. You filed for bankruptcy in the last 6 months.
  8. You had medical expenses you couldn’t pay in the last 24 months.
  9. You experienced unexpected increases in necessary expenses due to caring for an ill, disabled, or aging family member.
  10. You expect to claim a child as a tax dependent who’s been denied coverage in Medicaid and CHIP, and another person is required by court order to give medical support to the child. In this case, you do not have the pay the penalty for the child.
  11. As a result of an eligibility appeals decision, you’re eligible for enrollment in a qualified health plan (QHP) through the Marketplace, lower costs on your monthly premiums, or cost-sharing reductions for a time period when you weren’t enrolled in a QHP through the Marketplace.
  12. You were determined ineligible for Medicaid because your state didn’t expand eligibility for Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

If you cannot afford Obamacare or still want to opt out but do not qualify to opt out, you can pay the fine, its cheaper than paying the premiums and you if you do get sick and need it, well sign up for it in the ER if you have to. They cannot deny you after all for preexisting conditions.

Here are the fines per the same web site:

Starting 2014, most people must have health coverage or pay a fee (the “individual shared responsibility payment”). You can get an exemption in certain cases.
The individual shared responsibility payment

If you can afford health insurance but choose not to buy it, you must pay a fee known as the individual shared responsibility payment.

The fee in 2014 is 1% of your yearly income or $95 per person for the year, whichever is higher. The fee increases every year. In 2016 it is 2.5% of income or $695 per person, whichever is higher.

In 2014 the payment for uninsured children is $47.50 per child. The most a family would have to pay in 2014 is $285.

You make the payment when you file your 2014 taxes, which are due in April 2015.

Sen. Toomey Betrays Gun Owners - URGENT Take Action! NOW 202-224-3121

Sellout is worse than the Feinstein gun ban!

Urgent action required. It is urgent that every gun owner call their Senators today and demand that they oppose the “See a Shrink, Lose your Guns” sell-out bill that is being authored by Senators Pat Toomey (R) and Joe Manchin (D) - but which also has Chuck Schumer’s fingerprints all over it. Call immediately at 202-224-3121.

See a Shrink, Lose your Guns. The anti-gun "ranters" have spent the last week telling us that Republican Senators can’t filibuster Harry Reid’s gun control bill; that they can’t cut off debate to a bill they haven’t seen yet. “Let the bill come up,” they say. “We need to see the bill” before Senators can vote against cloture to proceed to it.

Well, we’ve seen the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer sell-out, and it’s worse than the Feinstein gun ban, which will reportedly be tied to it and offered simultaneously in a Senate procedure known as an “amendment tree.”

Toomey and Manchin will claim that their bill only covers “gun show sales” and Internet sales. But if you’ve ever talked about your gun and /or let it be known you’d like to sell or buy a gun on the Internet, this language covers you. If you advertise your gun in the church bulletin and the bulletin is put on the Internet, you’re covered.

The only exemption is for sales that are sold exclusively by word of mouth. The increased number of background checks would likely exacerbate the system breakdowns (inherent to NICS) which have shut down gun shows over and over again. It would mean that Americans who were illegally denied firearms because their names were similar to other people's would effectively be barred from owning a gun. (We would never tolerate such delays for voting rights or other freedoms that we are guaranteed.)

And for those Republicans who think they’re going to be able to offer their useless amendments, guess what? Reid is reportedly going to use a procedure to block out all amendments (called an “amendment tree”). And there are plenty of Senators standing in line to make sure that the Senate doesn’t give “unanimous consent” to let those Republicans offer their amendments.

So if you live in a rural area, you’re effectively barred from selling or buying a gun - or it at least becomes very, very difficult.

Incidentally, the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer “national registry” language is full of holes. There will be a national gun registry as a result of this sell-out.

But that’s not the worst part. Under an amendment in the bill to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), you could have your guns taken away because your private shrink thinks you’re “dangerous” and could send your name directly to the FBI Instant Check system.

Did you think it was terrible that 150,000 military veterans had been added into the NICS system because they’d seen a VA shrink about their PTSD? Well guess what? Now it’s going to happen to the rest of the population ... by the millions!

And the next step, of course, will be to begin to sue psychiatrists that don’t send every single patient’s name to the Instant Check system, and to make sure that their lives are ruined if they don’t send a patient to NICS and anything goes wrong.

The bottom line: “See a shrink; lose your guns.”

All of this will reportedly be on an amendment tree with the Feinstein gun ban and magazine bans.

Repeal of gun owner protections. In addition, Toomey no doubt unintentionally agreed to repeal one of the most important protections for gun owners that was included in the 1986 McClure-Volkmer Act - the provision that would allow you to take an unloaded, locked-up gun through states like New York without being stopped. Under a new subsection (c), the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer bill would require you to “demonstrate” to the satisfaction of New York police where you were coming from and where you are going to. And, if you don’t do that to their satisfaction, they can arrest you.

Please keep in mind, nothing in this bill would have stopped Newtown dirtbag from killing his mother and taking the firearms that she owned and perpetrating the horrible crimes that he committed.

Nothing is this bill would actually make children safer at schools. There is nothing that will actually keep bad guys from stealing or illegally acquiring guns, but there’s plenty that will threaten our gun rights!

ACTION: Click here to contact your two senators immediately. Tell them the “see a shrink; lose your guns” sellout is even worse than the Feinstein gun ban which will reportedly be on the same amendment tree with it. Distribute this alert far and wide.

Time is short, so if you call - at 202-224-3121 - you may click here to see the pre-written letter and use the contents to help direct your comments.

House Votes Today to Legalize Warrantless Wiretaps

House Votes Today to Legalize Warrantless Wiretaps
From Devvy Kidd

Activist Post

Only days after a NSA whistleblower has sounded the alarm about the government's massive spying campaign on American citizens, the U.S. Congress who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution are set to legalize warrantless wiretaps with the reauthorization of the secretive FISA Amendments Act.

This legislation is the perfect example of why there is no difference between the political parties. Their rhetoric may differ when it's politically expedient, but when push comes to shove they always vote for tyranny.

Obama said he was against the Patriot Act to get elected because the majority of Americans opposed it, but then he supported its extension not for one year, but for four years. Obama repeatedly attacked Bush's warrantless wiretaps as unconstitutional, but now he's expected to sign this 5-year reauthorization once the unprincipled legislators rubber stamp it today.

It seems the only time Congress acts in a bipartisan way is when they're trampling the Constitutional rights of Americans.

ACLU wrote this about the legislation:

It permits the government to get year-long orders from the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court to conduct dragnet surveillance of Americans’ international communications—including phone calls, emails, and internet records—for the purpose of collecting foreign intelligence. The orders need not specify who is going to be spied on or even allege that the targets did anything wrong. The only guarantees that the FAA gives are that no specific American will be targeted for wiretapping and that some (classified) rules about the use of intercepted information will be followed.

After four years, you’d hope that some basic information or parameters of such a massive spying program would be divulged to the public, or at least your rank-and-file member of Congress, but they haven’t...

Can you believe that 435 members of Congress who have sworn to uphold the Constitution are about to vote on a sweeping intelligence gathering law without this basic information?

If you hear politicians say that FISA actually provides meaningful oversight, they can't possibly know that due to the secrecy of the approval process. But you may remind them that every single secret surveillance request was approved in 2011 indicating a rubber stamp approval.

Don't be a person of good conscience who remains silent. Call your Congressperson and tell them to vote NO.

Stop the Bad Dream ACT in the SENATE

Dream Act supporters want Education on taxpayers dime and a pathway to citizenship.

Claims that it is not fair to deny a child who was brought into the country illegally has spewed forth without considerable thought.

Not surprisingly, Ousted house members Republicans and Democrat supported the Legislation of the bad Dream.

It may not be the child's fault that their parents have broken the laws of this land but it is also not the fault of hardworking taxpayers who are bursting at the seams with high taxes and high unemployment.

Americans do not want to pay for the education of those who entered into this country regardless of how it happened. They certainly do not want reward lawbreakers with a pathway to citizenship.

Sorry, but as a child, if my parents made bad finacial and or legal choices, the whole family suffered including the children. Yet, we are supposed to reward them?

Tell your senators, to stop this bad dream and prevent it from being a nightmare.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 (KJV)

Read the Bills Act and Food Safety: What Happens When Your Senators Don't Read the Bill

Read the Bills Act and Food Safety: What Happens When Your Senators Don't Read the Bill
Posted by John Markley

A funny thing happened on the way to the "food safety" bill's passage. As the letter below says, Senators violated a provision of the Constitution when they passed their version (S.510), and House leaders will not accept this violation.

Meanwhile, all 42 Senate Republicans have vowed to filibuster ALL legislation unless bills to fund the government and to prevent the New Years Day tax increase are considered first.

We are pleased with this development, because it makes final passage of the dangerous "food safety" bill much more difficult.

But it should also be pointed out that if's Read the Bills Act (RTBA) had been in force, the Senate would not have made this mistake. And so we're asking you to tell Congress to introduce and pass the Read the Bills Act.

You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .

The "food safety" bill that passed the Senate, S.510, is further proof that we need the Read the Bills Act (RTBA). S.510 includes new taxes, whereas the Constitution requires all tax bills to originate in the House.

This means the 73 Senators who voted for it either . . .

* Knowingly violated their oath of office to support the Constitution, or . . .
* They didn't read the bill!

The Read the Bills Act (RTBA) would have prevented this . . .

* It requires all bills that come to a vote to be read before a quorum in each chamber
* It also requires that they be posted online, in their final form, seven days before a final vote

If the RTBA was in force, surely many people would have caught this mistake BEFORE the bill's passage.

If you take your oath of office seriously, you wouldn't knowingly pass a bill that clearly violates the Constitution. The RTBA would prevent that from happening. I therefore expect you to introduce this bill soon.

You may send your letter using's Educate the Powerful System.

We also invite you to add your blog or website to the Read the Bills Act Coalition. By joining, you help spread the word about the RTBA, and in return we will list your site on our blog and announce it in a Downsizer-Dispatch reaching over 30,800 readers. You may learn more and join here.

This month we welcome Live Free Radio to the coalition. B)

Finally, in November the House passed 22 bills totaling 426 pages, and the Senate passed 13 bills totaling 598 pages. You can see summaries of these bills on our blog.

Obama Nominates Rabid Anti-gunner to Head the ATF

Obama Nominates Rabid Anti-gunner to Head the ATF
Gun Owners of America

Monday, November 29, 2010

It was not a good sign that Barack Obama kept his nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives a secret until after the midterm election --- and then quickly announced that anti-gun zealot Andrew F. Traver would be named to fill the slot.

After being blasted before November 2's election by the liberal New York Times for failing to beef up the ATF by appointing a director --- for fear of the wrath of the "gun lobby" --- Obama gets right past the election and, presto chango, a nominee appears. How 'bout that?

And not just any nominee.

As special agent in charge of Chicago's ATF field division, Traver had taken the lead in calling for a ban on semiautomatic firearms.

And Chicago, of course, has been the epicenter of anti-gun government activism. It is not surprising that Traver has also been active in the virulently anti-gun International Association of Chiefs of Police, which has worked to empower Handgun Control-type activists and has commissioned panels to:

* support one-gun-a-month and lock-up-your-safety laws, as well as "ballistic fingerprinting" files on all firearms;

* espouse an "effective" ban on .50-caliber firearms, and a redefinition of "armor-piercing" ammunition that could effectively ban handgun use;

* mandate gun-destruction policies for law enforcement and enhanced funding to go after guns;

* prohibit all private gun sales and make "prohibited persons" out of a much wider variety of persons committing simple misdemeanors;

* back a repeal of the Tiahrt amendment; and,

* allow federal health and safety oversight of the firearms industry (through agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Food and Drug Administration).

It is disconcerting that ANY organization espousing these views would be taken seriously. That an activist in such an organization would be put in charge of the ATF is truly troubling.

ACTION: Contact your Senators. Urge them to support a filibuster of the Traver nomination to head the ATF. You can use the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center to send your Senators the pre-written e-mail message below.

----- Pre-written letter -----

Dear Senator:

Please support a filibuster of the Traver nomination to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Have Americans Had Enough?

National ID card,,The Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, Eminent Domain, Warentless wiretapping, Warentless GPS tracking, National Helathcare, Out of control spending, out of control politician, bailouts, TSA groping and looking at nude passengers, the elderly, handicapped, and your children and the list goes on and on.

All of these things started moving forward immediately after 9/11 under the command of Republican George Walker Bush and has continued under Democrat Barack Hussein Obama.

Some of these things took place out of the supposed necessity of security over safety and others for the supposed betterment of the people.

Now nearly a decade after most of this has taken place, the people have said enough. The elections showed that the people do not like Obama's definition of change.

There are groups planning on refusing TSA orders to go through the backscatter x ray machines and refuse to allow them to touch their junk.

They understand that the TSA is threatening to send them to jail or assess an $11,000.00 fine, but they plan on standing up for their rights come Wednesday November 23rd once of the busiest times of the year for airports.

The TSA response was that if you don't want you or your children to go through x-rays or be groped by one of our fine employees (TSA WORKER ARRESTED FOR CHILD PORN), then you can find another way to get to grandmas house for Thanksgiving or any other holiday.

Read this article about TSA, "The TSA: America's Real Child Pornography/Molestation Machine."

In the mean time, I choose not to fly, I can get where I need to go via other non invasive means or not go at all then to endure such humiliation and degradation. Where would the airlines be if people stopped showing up?

But while you are boycotting the TSA, be sure to tell your newly elected member of congress that you have had enough and that you want a common sense approach done for security. Their are much more effective ways to find potential terrorists than to groping old women in wheel chairs, men wearing loose clothes or children.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18 (KJV)

URGENT: Food Safety Vote Next Week

Quote of the Day: "Given sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine." -- Woody Page, Denver sports columnist

S. 510 will make your food more expensive and less safe. It will drive many small farms out of business. The leaders of the "lame duck" Congress want to pass this falsely named "food safety" bill NEXT WEEK, but . . .

They'll need 60 votes to break Sen. Coburn's "hold" on the bill.

That means we can defeat S.510 with just 40 votes, but we must apply the pressure now!

Please send a letter right now telling your Senators to oppose S. 510.

You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .

S.510 will crush family farms and small businesses with excessive regulations - even though they were NOT the source of recent food safety problems.

S.510 also violates the Fourth Amendment by allowing the FDA to invade and search farms and food producers without court permission.

If you think the FDA will use this new power responsibly, think again. David Gumpert reports that the FDA shut down two raw-milk cheese-makers for the presence of the pathogen listeria, even though . . .

* Nobody got sick
* The FDA almost never shuts down companies for the mere presence of pathogens - even when people DO get sick
* Companies have previously been allowed to clean things up, rather than shut down.

If the FDA is starting to behave like this now, just imagine how abusive it will be under S.510?

Finally, it must be stressed that big agribusiness has been the source of most recent food safety problems. S.510 will make this problem worse by burdening small producers, and driving them out of business. This will make our food supply more centralized, less diverse, and more dangerous.

Please STOP S.510. This Congress must NOT pass any food safety bill. Remember, the voters have repudiated this Congress, and it's heavy handed ways.

You can send your letter through DownsizeDC's Educate the Powerful System.

Remember, Congress DOES read your letters. They DO have an impact. The more letters they receive, the more we're likely to succeed.

So please forward this, share on your social networks, and retweet this message:!/DDCDispatch

And thank you for being a DC Downsizer!

Elections are Over but the Battle to Victory is Ongoing

I was as elated to see so many smug Democrats and a few Republicans loose their seats as the Americans who went out and voted Tuesday.

However, being the realist that I am, we still have many of the same incumbents in office who helped get our nation to where it is today.

Obamacare and the National health care database legislation should be on the forefront of legislation that is repealed.

We don't need it changed, we need it removed from the books period.

The American people also need their rights returned. So while the newly elected Republicans are talking so highly of the Constitution and patriotic Americans, they need to take a deep look at Legislation that has been passed since 2001.

One such republican will be the New Speaker of the House.

You get the point. He spoke big about Freedoms, Liberty, the Constitution and being Patriotic when in reality he has not done much to protect or preserve them.

Legislation, such as the Patriot Act, Real ID, military Commissions Act and the like. Americans are tired of elected representatives ignoring their oath of office.

It is up to We the People to keep a close eye on those officials and make certain that they do the job they were elected to do or we throw them out as well.

No more excuses, you have control of the House and if Obama does not bend to the Will of the people, he too will be looking for a job in 2012 just like Republican Herbert Hoover did in 1932.

We know the Democrats will not work to preserve our Liberties, RINO's are no different. If the Republicans cannot get back to their conservative roots, then we may just need to replace both parties with individuals who are willing to step up and do the job they were elected to do.

What is Really Going on with the Foreclosures?

The Banks, like Bank of America, JP Morgan and others are stopping the foreclosures of hundreds of thousands across the country.

Some of the banks have been found to have hired homeless people, laid off waitresses and the like to sign off on the mortgages without proper training to ensure that the paperwork was all done properly.

People who were being foreclosed on were starting to challenge their foreclosures by making the banks prove they actually owned the title to the home they were foreclosing on.

Because most banks and mortgage companies trade or sell off titles, they had a hard time of proving ownership and in many cases the home owners were able to prevent their home from being foreclosed.

But are the banks themselves stopping the foreclosures under the guise of checking the paperwork or are they doing what they can to prevent a huge inventory of empty houses hitting the the already saturated housing market?

Obviously flooding the market with more homes would decrease the value of those homes and lower the prices. The banks would stand loosing billions.

In 2009, Bank of American sad "We do not hold foreclosed properties off the market." In that same year we read about a "Shadow Inventory" of homes that the banks refused to put on the market.

In January 2010, "Bank of America to release homes into the Nevada housing market..It's part of the so-called "phantom inventory" of foreclosed homes being held by banks as they work out loan modifications and negotiate short sales."

This appears to be a manipulation of the housing market and should be investigated. Yes, investigate their sloppy paperwork and give justice to those who have had their homes unjustly foreclosed, but also investigate the banks and mortgage companies themselves from what could be nothing more than a price manipulation scheme.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
