Is Congress regulating its way to the next crisis?

Quote of the Day: "It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man who knows what the law is today can guess what it will be tomorrow." -- James Madison (1751-1836), Father of the Constitution, 4th US President, Source: "Federalist" # 62

Politicians have a standard cure for every problem -- REGULATION. But what happens when there are so many regulations that not even the regulators can know them all, or understand what their consequences are? A case in point . . .

Widespread reliance on credit rating agencies, and a lack of knowledge about how those agencies were regulated, were major contributors to the 2008 financial meltdown.

Just this one example (explained in our sample letter below) is enough reason to reject the so-called financial reform bills being put forward by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. Complicated regulations helped cause the 2008 mess, and they are NO part of the solution.

If you agree, please send Congress a letter telling them so.

You may borrow from or copy from this sample letter . . .

Wall Street is already the most regulated sector of the economy. Too many regulations means that even the regulators don't know them all. Jeffrey Friedman of the Cato Institute shows how this helped cause the 2008 financial meltdown.

It appears that both the banks and the Federal Reserve were unaware that a 1975 SEC rule turned S&P, Moody's, and Fitch into a legally protected oligopoly, protecting them from competition from other rating agencies!

* Commercial banks believed in the soundness of the ratings from these agencies
* Other federal regulators wrongly believed S&P, Moody's, and Fitch were subject to "market discipline"
* But because these agencies were actually protected from competition, they got sloppy, and provided unreliable ratings
* This caused many financial institutions to purchase bad mortgage pools

In other words . . .

Regulators were unaware of the regulations! So how will MORE regulations help?

New regulations constantly address "the unintended consequences of previous regulations." They never really fix anything.

Instead of over-regulating the economy, strike at the root with real reform . . .

* End subsidies and bailouts -- make companies feel the consequences of their actions
* Stop creating monopolies, as you did with the credit rating companies

More regulations cause chaos, confusion, and catastrophe. Freer markets promote caution, transparency, and long-term growth. Therefore, I want you to oppose the Frank-Dodd financial reform bill.

Joe Sestak Needs to Come Clean

Joe Sestak has admitted that the White House has offered him a job to stay out of the Senatorial primary, but neither he nor the White House will come clean with the details.

The people of PA and the US have the right to know about the secretive deals coming out of the Obama administration. We want to know what our representatives were promised when they supported obamacare and the bailouts.

I am sure that this tactic isn't new, but We the people expect to be represented by our legislators and not have them sellout to the highest bidder for them to increase their personal gain.

Rest assured Americans do not care about the party affiliation, what they do care about is the integrity of our legislature.

Those in DC both Democrats and Republicans are being sent home as a result of these types of deals and as a result or simply ignoring the will of the people.

The primaries are just the beginning of the change that is reshaping our political culture. The November elections will bring forth even further change. Those members of the Senate who are not up for re-0election until 2012 and have ignored our voices, should start looking for new employment now.

Joe Sestak if you have been paying attention and you want to win the senatorial seat should come clean now or suffer the consequences at the polls.

Byrdie Watch 2010 - What Happened to Senator Byrd?

The Wall Street Reform Bill vote on Thursday was missing one of the most auspicious members of the Senate. Sources in Washington have revealed that absent from the vote was Senator Robert Byrd.

“We thought maybe someone forgot to bring him out from the cloak room before the vote,” commented one White House reporter.

However, after an exhaustive search of the Congressional grounds most concluded that Byrd had decided to start his weekend a bit early.

We caught up with him at the villa he rents in Mexico. “I just couldn’t sit through another one of those votes,” Byrd said as he sipped on a Margarita. “Besides these weekends are what has kept me going for the past fifty year’s in Congress.”

H.R. 4173 (Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009 )easily passed the Senate without Senator Byrd's or Senator Arlen Specter.

Republican Senators Brown (R-MA), Grassley (R-IA)& Snowe (R-ME), hopeful not to be thrown by the wayside voted to support the Legislation that will do nothing to prevent future bailouts of financial institutions, but only increases federal control.

Some are speculating that Senator Specter still upset that his party threw him out on his backside during the Senatorial primaries, may have jumped on the same plane with Senator Bryd. So far, we have yet to confirm that report.

Upon further investigation we have learned that a law was quietly passed in 1999 allowing Byrd to receive vacations every weekend for the rest of his life, paid for by our taxpayer dollars. Perhaps the secret to Byrd’s longevity in Congress is due to something special in the water here. Now only one question remains, where will Byrdie spend Memorial Day Weekend?

Can Obama Pick A Winner?

Obama picks a winner

Solicitor General and President Barack Obama's latest nominee is Elena Kagan, class of 1981. At the Ivy League school, she was a student newspaper editor. Her senior thesis was on socialist politics in New York City. (

Obama has had his share of picks since he was sworn in and many of those have been extremely questionable. If you have paid attention to politics over the past several years, then you should know who they are.

His first supreme court pick was Sonya Sotomayor who said she could do the job better than any gray haired white man, but of course that wasn't construed as racist.

Now, he is picking someone who appears to in favor of socialist politics and is opposed to the 'don't ask don't tell' policy of the US armed forces claiming it is a "Moral injustice."

CBS News reported that she would be the first openly gay supreme court justice if she is nominated. The Obama administration has refuted that story, so who knows and who cares. She already has a bias towards those who have chosen the homosexual lifestyle as Sotomayor has made remarks against those who are Caucasians.

The simple fact that Elena Kagan has not one minute of experience as a judge should be enough to disqualify her for the bench of the highest court of the Land. Years of experience and insight are needed to rule on cases that go before the Supreme Court and like most Americans I simply don't believe she qualifies.

Obama is great at picking people, but he seems much more qualified at picking his nose.

Tell Congress Audit the Fed! Vote as soon as Tuesday 5/10

Has Freedom Died in America?

Quotes of the Day:

"And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise" -- Jesus of Nazareth, Luke 6:31 (KJV)

"Liberty is the only thing you cannot have unless you are willing to give it to others." -- William Allen White

Once upon a time, in a country known as the land of the free and the home of the brave, these words were rarely heard:

"May I see your papers please?"

But, increasingly, the free and the brave became dependent and cowardly. They begged to wear chains.

Many fought the trend, but even they were undone, because some in their ranks harbored fears greater than their love of freedom.

Remember where you heard this . . .

If American freedom dies, the widespread desire to control immigration will have been a major factor.

And remember where you heard this . . .

If the fight to defeat the creation of a national ID card FAILS, it will be because of the widespread desire to control immigration. Let us not forget, we have drawn the line on Real ID. Five years have gone by, and we've stalled implementation. But now, other Real ID Jr. proposals are building a head of steam.

So remember where you heard this . . .

Americans will have to carry internal passports, and show them to State officials constantly, and have every aspect of their lives controlled by far off know-it-alls in the federal bureaucracy. Your federal overlords will gain increased control over . . .

* Where, how, and even if you can earn a living
* Whether or not you can board a train, or enter a federal building
* Whether or not you can cash a check, or buy guns or alcohol
* What kind of healthcare you receive
* How long you'll stand in line at the DMV, and whether you can have a license
* Whether or not you can be stopped on our streets, and even detained, for failure to display your card
* And many other aspects of your life

This total control will be made possible by a national identification system that was put in place in order to control immigration. But it will really control YOU!

In this way, immigration control and registration is just like gun control and registration -- it most deeply affects law-abiding citizens.

Remember where you heard this . . .

The immigration debate is NOT about what Mexicans will be allowed to do, IT'S about what YOU will be allowed to do. It's about YOUR freedom . . .

* First the politicians wanted to curtail your freedom to protect you from terrorists
* Now they want to curtail your freedom to protect you from Mexicans

Remember where you heard this . . .

The immigration debate is a scam. It's fear-mongering, foisted by busy-bodies of all varieties. The result will be Bigger Government in Washington, DC. It will control YOU. And now, it's up to YOU to decide . . .

Are you afraid of terrorists and Mexicans? ...or whatever hobgoblin the Big Government Fearmongers will conjure next?

Will you be free and brave, or dependent and cowardly? Will you trade YOUR FREEDOM for a false promise of protection?

This is how we see the issue. And if you end up in chains, remember who warned you. We did.

Meanwhile, for the brave who want to remain free, let the spirit of resistance continue . . .

Please send a letter to Congress opposing all national identification schemes, including the new attempt by Senators Schumer and Graham, to MAKE ALL OF US CARRY Social Security cards with biometric identifiers.

In addition to this campaign's hardwired letter to Congress, which reads as follows -- "Please don't try to fix the REAL ID Act. Please, just repeal it." -- we suggest you add the following in your personal comments . . .

"Please oppose any legislation that contains any support for any kind of national identification system. I specifically oppose plans for a Social Security card containing biometric identifiers. I do not want ANY national identification scheme, and I reject your claim that I need such a system in order to be protected from terrorists and Mexican immigrants. I am not afraid! And I want you to stop being afraid on my behalf."

You can send your letter to Congress here:

Our thanks go to those who prefer bravery and freedom.

Words to Our Legislators - NO More Excuses

We the people of this great nation are tired of excuses. We are constantly hearing lackluster reasons why we need legislation that we do not want. We constantly here them try to justify taking away our liberties, but Americans are tired of excuses.

Most Americans want to see action taken, they want legislators who will stand against legislation that is unconstitutional. They want legislators who will be the lone wolf if necessary and be the voice of reason during heated debate.

The time for excuses is done, the time for results is now. Americans are already rallying behind those who are running against incumbents. Americans will show their disdain for the lack of representation in the mid term elections as well as the presidential elections.

Americans will start voting in favor of more third party candidates and true conservatives who will not vote according to the will of their party but vote for the will of the people and in accordance to the Constitution.

The United States will see an immense change over the next few years. Let us all use due diligence and learn as much about each candidate as possible before we support any of them.

URGENT: Audit the Fed Amendment Vote TOMORROW

URGENT: Audit the Fed Amendment Vote TOMORROW
Posted by James Leroy Wilson

As you know, the "financial regulation" bills offered up by the House and Senate will do considerable harm.

But the House version has one thing going for it: the bill they passed includes Ron Paul's proposal to Audit the Federal Reserve.

The Senate hasn't passed their bill yet. But Banking Chairman Chris Dodd stripped the House's Audit the Fed provision from the Senate version.

A trans-partisan coalition of Senators, including the Independent Bernie Sanders, Democrat Russ Feingold, and Republican Jim DeMint, are proposing an amendment to Audit the Fed in the senate bill.

This amendment could be voted on Tuesday, May 4. Tomorrow. has joined a coalition of organizations in signing a letter that opposes the overall bill, but which supports this amendment. Here is the letter . . .

Dear Senator,

Although we oppose S. 3217, the financial regulatory reform legislation currently being considered on the Senate floor, we urge you to vote for Sens. Sanders, Feingold, DeMint, and Vitter's Federal Reserve Transparency Amendment.

This amendment is similar to S.604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act, which was offered as an amendment to last year's Budget Resolution. S. 604 has 33 bipartisan cosponsors. The Federal Reserve Transparency Act (H.R. 1207), the House companion bill, has 320 bipartisan cosponsors. A slightly modified version of H.R. 1207 passed the House Financial Services Committee by a vote of 43-28 and was incorporated into the financial reform bill passed by the House.

This amendment does not take away the "independence" of the Fed. It simply requires the GAO to conduct an independent audit of the Fed and requires the Fed to release the names of the recipients of more than $2 trillion in taxpayer-backed assistance during this latest economic crisis.

S. 3217 unacceptably increases the Fed's powers at a time when the American people are demanding answers as to what the Federal Reserve has been doing with the powers it currently possesses. It also strips out the strong audit language contained in the House's reform bill in favor of a watered-down approach that allows the Fed to continue operating in secret. Any true financial reform effort will start with requiring accountability from our nation's central bank.

Therefore, we urge you to work for a standalone vote on S. 604 and, if S. 3217 is brought up for a vote, strongly encourage you to support increased transparency at the Federal Reserve by voting in favor of the Fed Transparency Amendment.

We urge you to also send a letter telling the Senate to support the Sanders/Feingold/DeMint/Vitter amendment for Fed Transparency using's Educate the Powerful System.

Time is of the essence. Forward this to your contacts. And by the time you receive this Dispatch . . .

* It will have been posted on our Facebook fan page for you to share:

* And also on our Twitter page for you to retweet:

Thanks for taking action!

Obama Number One in Wind Power

That smell in Mo wasn't the output from the biodiesel plant that Obama visited today. No it was the foul stench of rhetoric by an administration that has proved themselves to be full of wind power.

After the Health Care control Bill, Obama has begun his journey of converting this nation into socialism. Next on his agenda?

Well, the regulation of the financial sector that caused the housing bubble. Never mind the fact that it was the regulations that forced banks to allow those who could not afford to purchase a home to get a home mortgage.

Other issues on his agenda, Immigration Reform. Now, I dont agree with Arizona's decision to become a "Show me you Papers" state, but I dont live there, and I most certainly do not have to go visit there any time soon. However, it is their right as a state to do as they will and up to the legal citizens of that state to deal with their legislators.

There will be no immigration reform. They will call it whatever they want, but we know it will be nothing more than AMNESTY. Hey, why not give amnesty to all lawbreakers who are just trying to make better lives for themselves?

Obama's other agenda's, too many to go over them all, but Cap & Trade, also known as Cap & Tax, Cap & Slave or energy regulations.

Genius idea, put the whole nation on a smart grid that has no viable protection against hackers. Some schoolboy in Asia or Russia will be able to shut the nation down while playing online games.

Now, if Obama wanted to do something besides smile and let out a lot of hot meaningless air, perhaps, he could get congress to lift the ban on growing hemp. Hemp is not a drug, but it is related to marijuana. It does produce far more biodiesel per pound than any other plant and it burns much cleaner and it grows in the most harshest of conditions.

The American people are tired of having a leader who is number one in wind power, they want a leader who will protect and defend the Constitution, they want a leader who will protect their liberties, they want a leader who can do more than smile pretty for the camera/

We will have to wait until 2012 for that issue to be resolved, unless of course someone comes up with the real obama birth certificate, in the meantime, we have the 2010 election that have the likes of many Socialist democrats already checking out the help wanted sections of their newspapers.

What did you do to celebrate Patriots Day?

When you sit down and read about the long hard battles our founding fathers endured in order to allow us to live free, you cannot help but wonder was it all in vain.

The choices we make each and every day will lead us either down the road of destruction to a nation of socialism, then Communism and tyranny or it will be a road of sacrifice and struggle to return our nation back to the way it was intended to be and that is simply that all are able to live free.

Liberals will have you to think that because you celebrate patriots day that you are doing so because of what happened in Oklahoma City when in fact Patriots' Day is celebrated to honor those who fought in Battles of Lexington and Concord. This is where the phrase "The shot heard around the world," comes from.

Americans were tired of tyranny. They did all they could do in order to stop King George's oppression though discourse. Ultimately they had to make the heart wrenching choice to sacrifice themselves and all they had so that all who lived in the colonies could live free.

Today is Patriot's Day. Have you taken the opportunity to sacrifice some of your time and money? Perhaps a few months to speak to freinds, neighbors, family members about the issues and what is happening to our country? Were you able to help out a liberty minded candidate?

Today, we do not have to go to the extent of our forefathers to regain our liberties. We do need to have the same passion and zeal as they had and use it to find ways to defeat those who are in power and are abusing it. Both Democrats and Republicans should be scrutinized and voted out according to their performance.

We don't need to resort to violence to win our country back, what we do need is votes and candidates who will uphold their oath to office.

Freedom Loving Americans Amuse Obama, Freedom Loving Americans Amuse Obama? Ae we the King's Jesters?

Talk about pouring salt in an open wound, Obama has a way with words. The liberals are talking about how words can be hurtful, yet their exalted leader is not too careful with his words, nor are a majority of his smug senatorial and congressional lapdogs.

The American people are not amused about owning banks, auto manufacturing plants, loan institutions and being forced to pay for abortions, and be forced to accept government health care.

"He who laughs last, laughs best." Currently more than 20% of Americans support the tea party movement and nearly 59% are not happy with the way our legislators are doing their jobs.

November will remove the smirk off the amused liberal faces. November will reveal the true American spirit when Americans head to the polls.

So be amused, come 2012, your laughter will be forgotten once you are replaced with someone who will embrace the Will of the People waste stop the waste and incursion of our liberties.
