Demon Pass ObamaCare

Pelosi and Reid want to deem and pass the obamcare health control bill without a full congressional vote as mandated by the Constitution.

Americans want to deem things as well in order to satisfy their wills.

Deem the Health Care Reform Bill null and void.

Deem this procedure being used to pass the HC Bill unconstitutional

Deem those who support this legislation in violation of their oaths of office.

Deem those who support this legislation unfit to hold office.

Legislators who are supporting obamacare are ignoring the will of the people. Former constitutional champion Dennis Kucinich just announced he will follow the same path.

The phone lines on capitol hill are on fire from angry voters around the country demanding that their legislators listen to those they are supposed to represent. Many believe that the only way they will be heard will be done in November during the elections.

I say if you can run for office or help someone who is that will actually represent you then do so henceforth.

Stand up, Speak up, Live Free!

Let's Slaughter This Strategy on HC VOTE

Later this week, the House leadership intends to . . .

* pass the Senate 2,700 page healthcare reform bill, clearing it for President Obama's signature
* but pretend that they didn't

It's a mind-boggling process suggested by Rule Committee Chair Rep. Louise Slaughter. To summarize . . .

* before Congress can pass a reconciliation bill "fixing" the Senate's bill, the House must first pass the Senate bill and the President must sign it into law
* but the House doesn't want an up-or-down vote on the unpopular Senate bill
* so instead the House will tie the Senate bill and the reconciliation bill together in a Rules Committee resolution
* which says that if the reconciliation bill passes, then the original Senate bill will be "DEEMED" to have been passed
* the Senate bill can then be signed into law, after which the Senate will (supposedly) proceed to consider the reconciliation bill

How can they do this? Because the House Rules Committee can propose anything that it pleases.

Fortunately, this procedure will require majority approval in the House. Which means . . .

The vote on the Rules Committee resolution will be a vote on the Senate healthcare bill.

We must tell the House we're on to their scheme, and they won't get away with it.

You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .

My Senators are also seeing this letter to let them know of my disgust with the "Slaughter Strategy."

Last week, President Obama called for an "up-or-down" vote on the healthcare bill.

Instead, the House Slaughter Strategy "would allow House members to say they never voted for the Senate bill, just the amendments to fix it."

I demand that you do everything in your power to prevent House Democrats from foolishly attempting this maneuver. But if they follow through, please realize that the American people will know that a vote for the Rule Committee resolution will be a vote for the corrupt Senate healthcare bill.

It will be a vote for . . .

* the Cornhusker Kickback for Sen. Ben Nelson
* the Louisiana Purchase of Sen. Mary Landrieu's vote
* and other bribes to several Senators

As a member of the House, you are already aware that if the you pass the Senate bill into law, then the Senate will have no vested interest in "fixing" their own bill with the reconciliation process. Have you ever trusted the Senate before?

Does it make sense to support a bill that . . .

* the American people don't like
* that the majority of the House doesn't really like
* which will probably NOT be changed by reconciliation?

That would be political suicide!

Do yourself and the American people a favor. Oppose the Senate's healthcare bill.

Two Outrageous Political Decisions By Senator Graham

Can you prove you’re not a terrorist?

Can you prove you’re not a terrorist?

March 11th, 2010 |

The REAL ID Act has punished innocent Americans with red tape, higher fees, and lost privacy. Some in Congress want to add to these burdens.

Let’s stop them! Please tell Congress to repeal REAL ID and oppose any further attempts at creating a national ID card.

You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .

What is the purpose of REAL ID?

* to prevent terrorists from boarding planes, even though there are an infinite number of other ways to engage in terrorism
* to prevent illegal immigrants from getting driver’s licenses – which only increases the likelihood they will drive without ever being tested, creating more dangerous roads

Why should either (misguided) goal interfere with an American citizen’s attempt to renew a driver’s license?

REAL ID is working exactly as I thought it would. It punishes innocent Americans like me with red tape and higher fees by forcing us to “prove” we’re not terrorists or illegal immigrants.

In Florida . . .

* the driver’s license fee jumped from $25 to $48
* a woman was denied a license for failing to produce certified documentation of her first marriage, held in 1958 in Minnesota

* and a 68 year-old man’s Rhode Island birth certificate that had been used to get into the Air Force, and to get a Florida license 20 years earlier, was rejected

Nevada has also been plagued by long lines with applicants turned away.

Meanwhile, two New York DMV workers were recently arrested for selling “authentic” ID’s to criminals.

This hardly inspires confidence that a nationalized ID system will stop terrorists and criminals from getting driver’s licenses!

And yet the Administration and Congress are considering a replacement to REAL ID, the PASS ID Act, which will make it even easier for corrupt state employees to get access to my identity documents!

In addition, Sens. Lindsay Graham and Chuck Schumer want to force all American workers to carry a biometric ID card.

In other words, to hold down a job, I would have to be fingerprinted, enrolled in a national database, and possibly tracked.

I have had it! This is America! Americans shouldn’t have to prove we’re not terrorists, or that we’re not illegal immigrants. I have the right to travel. I have the right to earn a living. I resent and reject any government program that presumes I must ask for permission.

I demand that you repeal the REAL ID Act and do everything in your power to oppose the PASS Act, the Graham-Schumer card, and all forms of national ID.

You may send your letter using’s Educate the Powerful System.

And please consider making a donation to further our work.

We appreciate your support!

McCain and Lieberman have introduced this bill

WE are not the enemy, but we are about to be treated like we are. Keep sending the faxes on Obama care, but spare a few on this bill that is in committee and has at least nine cosponsors already

McCain and Lieberman have introduced this bill
by Pat Armstrong of Campaign for Liberty

This bill scares the fluff out of me.

The “Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010,” introduced by Senators John McCain and Joseph Lieberman on Thursday with little fanfare, “sets out a comprehensive policy for the detention, interrogation and trial of suspected enemy belligerents who are believed to have engaged in hostilities against the United States by requiring these individuals to be held in military custody, interrogated for their intelligence value and not provided with a Miranda warning,”

The bill does not distinguish between U.S. citizens and non-citizens, and states that “suspected belligerents” who are “considered a “high-value detainee” shall not be provided with a Miranda warning.”

A person is considered a “high value detainee” if they fulfill one of the following criteria.

(1) poses a threat of an attack on civilians or civilian facilities within the U.S. or U.S. facilities abroad; (2) poses a threat to U.S. military personnel or U.S. military facilities; (3) potential intelligence value; (4) is a member of al Qaeda or a terrorist group affiliated with al Qaeda or (5) such other matters as the President considers appropriate.

Now that the Southern Poverty Law Center and the federal government, via the MIAC report and innumerable other leaked documents, now consider virtually anyone with a dissenting opinion against the state as “posing a threat,” millions of peaceful American citizens could be swept up by this frightening dragnet of tyranny.

However, according to the bill, an individual doesn’t even have to pose a threat to be snatched, detained and interrogated – they can merely be deemed to be of “potential intelligence value” or come under the vague and sweeping mandate of “such other matters as the President considers appropriate”.

This last designation hands Obama dictator powers to have any American citizen kidnapped, detained, and interrogated on a whim.

The only proviso that even hints at some form of check or balance is the measure that states, “The High-Value Detainee Interrogation Team must make a preliminary determination whether the detainee is an unprivileged enemy belligerent within 48 hours of taking detainee into custody.”

“The High-Value Detainee Interrogation Team must submit its determination to the Secretary of Defense and the Attorney General after consultation with the Director of National Intelligence, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. The Secretary of Defense and the Attorney General make a final determination and report the determination to the President and the appropriate committees of Congress. In the case of any disagreement between the Secretary of Defense and the Attorney General, the President will make the determination,” states the bill.

The ACLU has expressed its vigorous opposition to the legislation, labeling it nothing less than a “direct attack on the Constitution”.

“Indefinite detention flies in the face of American values and violates this country’s commitment to the rule of law,” states Laura W. Murphy, Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office.

Of course, such positions from the ACLU as well as Amnesty International will only be used as grist for the neo-con propaganda mill about how the bill ought to be passed in order to avoid being “soft on terrorists,” a piece of spin still being swallowed whole by millions of conservatives who are blissfully unaware of the fact that the apparatus of the war on terror is now being aimed squarely at politically active American citizens.

“Torture, indefinite imprisonment, secret trials and limited staged hearings are the stuff of cheap dictatorships,” writes Ian McColgin. “They are the sort of idiocy we scorned in the Soviets, the Koreans and the Vietnamese. It is astonishing that we have senators and citizens even discussing this bill which is not a capitulation to terrorism – it’s the triumph of terrorism.”

Don't let the NFL take your away your vitamins

Senator John McCain has introduced S. 3002, the Dietary Supplement Safety Act (DSSA).

This bill will . . .

* control your ability to use vitamins,
* for the benefit of the major sports leagues

The following welfare queens endorsed McCain's bill within hours of its introduction . . .

* The National Football League
* The National Basketball Association
* Major League Baseball
* National Hockey League
* The NCAA
* The Professional Golf Association
* The U.S. Olympic Committee

Nearly all of these entities receive tax funding to build the stadiums they play in. Now they want to make your supplements more expensive so that none of their rich athletes will accidentally ingest anything banned by league rules. But you can take action to kill this bill.

It's crucial to understand that most vitamins and supplements aren't drugs. Your food that grows in the ground, or on the hoof, is full of these substances. That's one reason why previous government attempts to label these nutritional supplements as drugs, and regulate them, have met with fierce public opposition. Indeed . . .

Prior to the Internet, one such government power grab generated what may have been the biggest barrage of letters to Congress in American history. That power grab failed, because public pressure works!

Instead of regulating supplements Congress passed the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 DSHEA).

That law states that most nutritional substances do not require FDA pre-approval before going to market, and cannot be re-classified as drugs.

Now, John McCain seeks to repeal key provisions of the DSHEA. Yet in his remarks introducing S.3002 . . .

* he provides no evidence that the relatively free-market approach of the DHSEA has failed

* he cites no evidence that dietary supplements(PDF), consumed by 150 million Americans, are unsafe or a threat to public health

And the DSSA is completely unnecessary to address the (minor) steroid problem. In fact, the problems McCain does cite were already addressed by current law, which has not been competently enforced by the FDA!

* the FDA already has authority to ban any substance containing anabolic steroids
* and products are already required to list all their ingredients

To make matters worse, ". . . the bill reverses "common law, which assumes all is legal unless restricted. DSSA would allow only what is permitted to be legal."

The DSSA is nothing but regulatory "corporate welfare" for major sports leagues (and multi-national drug companies). It will put the FDA in the business of helping the NFL, Major League Baseball, etc. enforce their substance policies -- at your expense.

This bill will deny you freedom of choice, place expensive burdens on small enterprises, and do nothing to protect your health. It will actually make you less healthy, by causing nutritional substances to be less available and more expensive.

Please use these talking points to tell your Representative and your two Senators to oppose S. 3002, John McCain's Dietary Supplement Safety Act.

And if you're excited about's work, please do one or both of the following:

1) Start a monthly pledge or make a one-time donation.
2) Commit to sharing this campaign with ten other people who would be interested in this issue.

Both methods will help grow the Downsize DC Army,

Sit Down and Shut Up

Do not call your legislators at the state and local level. They are busy people and are working hard to make sure you and I are all kept safe and secure from threats abroad and at home. they don't have time to listen to you or I so just sit down and shut up.

Do not go to protests, it is a waste of money and resources when extra police have to be called, plus all the litter and noise is just annoying. Besides it wont do any good. it's not like anyone really cares about a bunch of people who are upset over silly things like the Constitution and the truth.

Do not run for office at any level, after all the system is broken and cannot be changed from within. just sit down and shut up. Our leaders know what is best for us.

Do not worry about who to vote for, just choose the name that sounds the most familiar. Do stay away from those with radical ideas who speak about liberty, freedom, government accountability, ethics, limited government and the like. Those are merely outdated and antiquated ideas brought about by radicals in the 1700's.

Do not complain about health care legislation. Our legislators know what we need and we should just be grateful for the extra taxes we will have to pay even though it will be less than we are used to, at least everyone will get some kind of care. Yes the legislators need better health care then you or I, indeed after all they are the decider's, so sit down and shut up.

Do not complain about taxes. So what if it takes nearly six months to pay for one years of all taxes combined. We should all be so lucky to be able to have six months of tax free income. We need to pay taxes to help pay for the great health insurance and salaries of our leaders. We need to pay to help them take trips around the world and dine on exotic meals. They deserve it after all for all the hard work they do to protect us.

Do not complain about national id's or full body scanners. They are there to protect us. A few extra x-rays should not cause too much damage to our bodies and besides if it does, we have our free health care to rely upon to fix it.

Do not complain about cameras on the street corners and in nearly every building you enter. They are their to help keep you safe and help police figure out who may have attacked and mangled you in the middle of the night.

Do not complain about the police taking your blood at checkpoints. They have to make sure no one is drunk or on drugs to help keep us all safe on the roads. So what if they put the blood in DNA databases. Perhaps they can use those samples to help find cures for current and future diseases. It's not like they would ever abuse their authority and misuse the information.

Do not worry about what is in your food. Genetically modified food is good for you. The Europeans do not understand the benefits of this type of food and have banned it, but our FDA says it is good and thus it must be so, because they would never approve a food or drug unless it has been fully tested to ensure that it is safe now and will not have any long term negative side affects.

Do not take vitamins or bother eating organic or unprocessed foods. Again all food approved by the FDA must be safe for you and vitamins can be more dangerous than FDA approved medications and besides, your free health care panel may not allow the consumption of non FDA approved supplements.

Do not worry, it causes too much stress. Let your mind and bodies go free. Sit back enjoy an hour or ten of TV. You can escape into the lives of others real or imagined without the stress of utilizing your own brain cells. Just sit down and shut up. All is well.

Obama Demands Vote on Health Care Control Bill

Obama once again ignores the will of the people and demands that congress runs an up or down vote on the health care control bill.

I should be amazed at being ignored by those who were elected to represent me, but I like most Americans have become numb to it. Not numb as ignoring it though.

Americans will affect some change come November, but in the mean time the Democrats are forgetting that many of their own constituents do not agree with the health care scheme they are plotting. Yet they want to blame the Republicans for trying to stall it.

How about they quit trying to point fingers and accept the fact that a majority of Americans despite their political views do not want this health care control bill no matter what they call it?

if they continue to ignore us, they will find find themselves looking at a massive influx of third party candidates come November.

Stand up, Speak up, Live Free!

Barack Obama: You Have No Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy

Yes, Obamma said "You Have No Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy". Does he want all of our movements tracked? Does he want everything we do tracked? Open medical, cell phones, health, financial and education records. Everywhere we go and everything we buy should be an open book?

I find it a bit ironic that obama has not releases his school records or birth records, yet he expects all Americans to do so. This type of attitude and mindset is that of a dictator and not a leader. He needs to lead by example if he wants the people to follow.

Meanwhile all children born in the Untied States are forced to submit DNA for testing. This DNA is given to other agencies, including the federal government without parental consent to be stored in a permanent national database.

Now, rember people, Obama is a Constitutional Scholar. He knows the Constitution and how to manipulate it, but we have some clearly defined rights under that document.

U.S. Constitution: Fourth Amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Under this document, we have the right to private phone calls, we have the right to keep our documents of any kind under our own control, but it seems more and more politicians are using it as a document to loaaht rather than to protect and defend.

2010 will be the year to elect those who will honor this document and not try to twist it for their own agendas or the agendas of their handlers. The real change is coming and don't be surprised to see a huge shift in numbers in both the house and senate this year along with state parties as more and more Americans not only show their disdain for the current political agenda but are getting involved at every level of government to help bring this nation back to the glories of limited government as it was intended and away from the intrusive monster it has become.

GET INVOLVED RUN FOR OFFICE! Get behind someone who will reverse much of the legislation passed that is unconstitutional and allow us all to be able to Live Free.

URGENT: Don't be a Patriot Act coward

Three provisions of the so-called USA PATRIOT ACT are set to expire on February 28. You can learn more about them from our February 10 Dispatch.

Instead of letting these unneeded provisions lapse, Congress will likely extend them, perhaps 30 days, or maybe to the end of 2010. BUT THIS COULD HAPPEN AS SOON AS TODAY.

Worse, Congressional leaders will probably insert this extension in unrelated legislation. This is cowardly. This issue deserves an up-or-down vote on its own merits (or lack thereof).

Please express your anger about this by telling Congress to pass the One Subject At A Time Act.

You can borrow from or copy this letter . . .

My understanding is that Majority Leader Reid and Speaker Pelosi intend to attach the PATRIOT ACT renewal measure to an unrelated bill, at the last minute. This is wrong. The renewal deserves its own, separate vote.

It seems obvious to me that Reid and Pelosi fear . . .

* a floor debate in which Republicans will shamelessly attack Democrats for being "soft on terror"
* that civil libertarians will be angry if some Democrats vote for the extension

But these are exactly the kinds of debates, and stands, we need our representatives to have and to take. Plus, Reid and Pelosi are being silly if they think civil libertarians won't be angry about the extension being passed as a part of unrelated legislation. This will increase our anger, not diffuse it.

Please make the following case to Reid and Pelosi . . .

* the Constitutionality and effectiveness of these provisions deserve to be debated in both chambers

* this is a debate that the anti-PATRIOT side will win in the court of public opinion

* Americans have lost their fear of terrorism;

* if Democrats lose in the fall, it will definitely not be because they oppose these Patriot Act extensions

* combining unrelated legislation will increasingly be a reason for voters to switch control of Congress to another party

I demand that you oppose ANY bill that contains a Patriot Act extension, no matter how important you think the rest of the bill is. If the bill is really that important then the leadership will resubmit it without the unrelated Patriot Act provisions.

I also demand that you introduce's One Subject At A Time Act to stop the corrupt and cowardly habit of combining unrelated bills into one package.

Because of the urgency of this issue, please also call your Representative and your Senators. Tell them to oppose the Patriot Act renewal. You can find their phone numbers when you log-in to the OSTA Campaign.

Please also make a contribution to further our work.

Do you have a right to be anonymous?

Quote of the Day: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
-- Voltaire (attributed)

Subject: Do you have a right to be anonymous?

We need your help to file another brief with the Supreme Court. This time we want to protect your right to speak and act anonymously

This message will explain . . .

* Why the right to anonymity is important
* The controversial nature of the case about which we want to file a brief
* What the brief will cost and how much time we have

Your right to be anonymous

You already exercise your right to anonymity when you vote. Without the secret ballot you would be vulnerable to various forms of intimidation. Other forms of anonymous expression used to be protected. For instance . . .

America's Founder's published anonymously

The country you know and love probably wouldn't exist without anonymous expression. Many of the most influential writings of the Founding era were published anonymously . . .

. . . including the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers.

The men who debated the Constitution wanted to be able to speak their minds, without fear of retribution. So . . .

If anonymous expression was important for the creation of the United States, isn't it important for you too?

For instance, should you be able to . . .

* Distribute anonymous pamphlets
* Make anonymous contributions to candidates
* Broadcast anonymous advertisements

This kind of anonymity was crucial to the civil rights movement

In the past, the identity of those who contributed to the work of civil rights movement was legally protected, in order to shield them from retribution, intimidation, and violence.

It's doubtful the civil rights movement could have obtained the funding it needed without the legal right for people to both make and receive anonymous donations.

But YOU don't have this right today. You cannot . . .

* Make anonymous contributions to candidates for federal office
* Solicit anonymous donations if you're running for federal office
* Advertise anonymously, if you're subject is the election of one or more of your federal rulers

As a result . . .

* You're vulnerable to potential intimidation by your employer, the press, the government, and even your fellow citizens
* If you run for office on an unpopular platform people may fear retribution for supporting you, so you may not be able to raise much money -- your ideas may remain unpopular simply because your reasons for believing them are never heard

Anonymity vs. Transparency

The politicians and the mainstream media claim that anonymity must be prohibited in order to prevent corruption, but these are self-serving lies. The exact opposite is true. When people are afraid to speak, then corruption flourishes. It's important to realize that you have been shut out . . .

* Minority opinions have no power to corrupt the government, because they have no control over the government
* Incumbent office holders are the people who have the power to do corrupt things, not the challengers you support -- not you, the taxpayer
* Total transparency is something the government owes to you, NOT something that you owe to the government

Does the government work for you, or do you work for the government?

We strongly believe that if YOU want to . . .

* Express yourself freely, and be heard,
* Regain control of your government,
* Be able to much more easily fire and replace your so-called elected representatives, then . . .

ALL aspects of the existing campaign finance laws must be overturned, including those that require the compulsory public disclosure of the names of donors or grass roots activists, like you. We believe the Supreme Court must hear the principled voice of DC Downsizers, because . . .

A new Supreme Court case, Doe v. Reed, may determine how your right to anonymity is treated for years to come

We do NOT get to choose the cases heard by the Supreme Court. But the court's decision may affect your rights for years to come.

Washington state's Secretary of State ruled that the names and addresses of people who signed a referendum petition be made available for their opponents to publish on the Internet. This case is controversial, because . . .

* The referendum petition was for one of those "defense of marriage" amendments. But . . .
* Just like our Quote of the Day states, one doesn't have to agree with the position of the initiative to defend the right of those who signed it to remain anonymous. And . . .
* It appears intimidation was a real possibility in this case.

Those who opposed the "defense of marriage" initiative were understandably passionate about it. They wanted to . . .

* Publish the names of the petition signers online
* Have opponents of the initiative look for the names of people they know so they can, ominously, have a "difficult conversation" with them

Would you find this intimidating?

Have you ever signed a ballot initiative petition? If so, did you ever dream that . . .

* Your name, address, email address, or phone number might be published on the Internet
* People would be encouraged to contact you for a "difficult conversation?"

We think the Golden Rule applies here . . .

If you ever want to be able to speak and act anonymously, then you must also protect this right for those with whom you disagree.

We also think this case is a immensely important opportunity to educate the Supreme Court about YOUR right to anonymous expression. This is why . . .

* We're participating in a coalition effort, working with the Free Speech Coalition, to file this amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief in the Supreme Court case, Doe v. Reed.
* The expected cost is $15,000, and we need to cover a portion of this expense.
* Our legal team needs to hear from us this week. In fact . . .

We cannot commit to help without a substantial response to this appeal.

Will you help us defend your right to anonymous expression?

* You can use our secure online contribution form to make a donation for this purpose to the Downsize DC Foundation.
* Donations to the Downsize DC Foundation are tax-deductible, if you itemize deductions on your tax returns.
* We will send you a receipt.

And to thank you for your support . . .

* Donors who provide an email address on the contribution form will receive a pdf copy, via email, of the brief you helped support.
* If you want YOUR gift to be ANONYMOUS, please check the "Do not add my name to any public lists" box on our contribution form -- otherwise we may gratefully acknowledge your donation in a future Downsizer-Dispatch.
* Donors who give more than $60 in a one-time contribution, or make a new, credit-card pledge of $7 or more per month to the Foundation, will receive a printed copy of the brief, printed to Supreme Court specifications.

Please join us in supporting YOUR right to anonymous expression.
