Faith & Works

Faith & Works

Well, it happened on my show New Years Eve. Someone called in and made claims about Faith and Works and the number of people who will enter into heaven.

I have never done this before on air, but I need to clarify this not just for my listeners but for the person who mis-spoke. I will not be taking calls during the show, but you are welcome to send me your thoughts via email or post them here.

Tune in and hear the Word of God Rightly Divided.

If time permits, I will cover some of the important news stories, but I must first share God's Word with you.

Keep Living Free

Two Days ago a fellow talk show host Peter Zarconne called into my show and wanted to provide some prophecy information because I said I was no expert at it and therefore could not really say much about it. Anyways, the conversation worked to salvation.

Pete believes that people can be saved without knowing it because they have what appears to be the spirit of Christ. Meaning, they do great works, they have a giving heart, they are loving to all of mankind and so on and so forth.

Peter Zarconne first of all I need to apologize to you and I need to apologize to my listeners. You see, I was not prepared for the conversation that came about.

I Peter 3:15 (King James Version)
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

I wasn’t ready and took the easy way out by letting you off the phone. You see even though I was tired, I should have kept you on the line to make it clear to you as a Brother in Christ that you were flat out wrong.

Colossians 3:16 (King James Version)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

You see the Word of God is for both Teaching and Admonishing. Meaning that it can be used to teach that which we need to learn or used to correct when we are wrong. I am not correcting you out of spirit. I am sure that you have only good intentions, but good intentions through ignorance can be misleading and dangerous as a Christian.

When you try to add your own understanding and man’s wisdom, you are treading on dangerous ground. You see, you are mixing metaphysical and philosophy with your teaching of the gospel. Look what God’s Word has to say about this.

Deuteronomy 4:2 (King James Version)
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 (King James Version)
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Proverbs 30:6 (King James Version)
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Revelation 22:18-19 (King James Version)
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

You see, we are not to add our beliefs or interject what we think the Word of Gods says. If you are going to teach the word of God then you must learn

2 Timothy 2:15 (King James Version)
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

If you are going to try to educate the Word of God, you need to do it right. There are tools such as a concordance and bible dictionaries to help you better understand the Greek and the Hebrew in the Word of God but you also must pray and let the holy Sprit lead you.

Proverbs 3:5 (King James Version)
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

God’s Word is clear about Worldly Wisdom

1 Corinthians 3:19-20 (King James Version)

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

Isaiah 29:14 (King James Version)
Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

Proverbs 26:11 (King James Version)
As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

Once you have the knowledge, do not return to the foolish wisdom of men. Proverbs sums it up well.

Now, my brother, you also stated that you believe that nearly two thirds of all mankind will go to heaven.

While this is positive thinking and hopeful wishing, it is not reality according to the word of God

Matthew 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

God’sWord clearly states that very few men will actually make it to salvation, because most of mankind reject God. It does not matter if they are good people, it does not matter if they are charitable and loving, if they are not saved, they are not going to heaven regardless of their works.

Works are Insufficient to Secure Salvation

Matthew 7:22-23 (King James Version)

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Romans 3:20 (King James Version)
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 9:32 (King James Version)

… Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

Romans 11:6 (King James Version)
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Galatians 2:16 (King James Version)
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (King James Version)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:4-5 (King James Version)
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

You see, you can do good works, you can follow the law of the Old Testament, but that will not save you, your salvation comes through the Blood of Christ not through your works.

Where does Faith Come from?
Romans 10:17 (King James Version)

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

What is Faith?
Hebrews 11:1 (King James Version)

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

What is the Result?
Romans 5:1 (King James Version)

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Philippians 3:9 (King James Version)
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

James 2:17-18 (King James Version)

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

1 Peter 2:12 (King James Version)
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Luke 6:35 (King James Version)

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Galatians 6:10 (King James Version)
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

1 Timothy 6:18 (King James Version)
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

James 4:17 (King James Version)
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

If you do not do good works and you claim to be a Christians, then you are sinning. If you have no desire to do works and call yourself a Christian, then you are deceiving yourself and you are without God. If you do good works and have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, repented of your sins, then those things will do you no good.

The Only Door
John 10:9 (King James Version)

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

The Only Saviour
Acts 4:12 (King James Version)

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

His Grace is Sufficient
Acts 5:11 (King James Version)

And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

His Blood Avails
Romans 5:9 (King James Version)

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 (King James Version)

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

For the Obedient
Hebrews 5:9 (King James Version)

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

At His Coming
Hebrews 9:28 (King James Version)

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Romans 10:9 (King James Version)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

1 Corinthians 1:21 (King James Version)
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

1 Corinthians 15:21 (King James Version)

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

2 Timothy 3:15 (King James Version)
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Luke 3:6 (King James Version)
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
This means that Everyone will have the opportunity to be saved.

Acts 2:21 (King James Version)
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 5:18 (King James Version)
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Romans 10:13 (King James Version)
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

1 Timothy 2:4 (King James Version)
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Titus 2:11-12 (King James Version)
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

2 Peter 3:9 (King James Version)

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Some will try to interpret Gods Word to say that those who will be saved are already predestined to be saved. While God knows who will accept Salvation through the repentance of sin bought with the blood of Jesus Christ, anyone who is convicted by God’s Holy Sprit and accepts Christ as their Lord and Saviour and repents of their sinful state shall be saved. No exceptions. It doesn’t matter who you are or what lifestyle you have lived. God erases the past, forgives you of your sins and welcomes you into His kingdom.
Luke 12:8 (King James Version)
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

John 4:14 (King James Version)
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Acts 10:43 (King James Version)
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

1 John 5:1 (King James Version)
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

Revelation 22:17 (King James Version)
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

If only a limited number of people were going to be saved, then we would not have to go out and teach God’s Word, they would somehow get saved and they would live godly lives, but you see the Word of God Clearly states that the words are written for all of mankind.

Matthew 24:14 (King James Version)
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Matthew 28:19 (King James Version)
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Mark 13:10 (King James Version)
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.

Mark 16:15 (King James Version)
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luke 24:47 (King James Version)
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Revelation 14:6 (King James Version)
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
So for not sharing this information sooner, I do apologize and I will do my best to be ready the next time this issue comes up.
Please know that this information is given to teach and to admonish my brothers and sisters in Christ. It also teaches those who are without Christ an opportunity to come to know Him before it is too late.
